Streaming test, using WZBC’s mp3 Shoutcast stream to start
Successfully replicated WZBC’s website – including the player. It’s here.
Now trying to put the player here – will it work?

Trying thejplayer.
It’s an AAC stream, works fine on iOS, but I have yet to get it working on a computer, there’s gotta be a way!
[update 2016 – it now works on Chrome. Maybe other browsers.]
If you’re on a computer, just enter “http://stream.webhop.org” into iTunes, Winamp, VLC or whatever, and it should play. (more…)
School’s out for Xmas/New Year’s. If work winds down, I’ll have this station on more. Weekend before Xmas it’s on full random, although most of Sat inserted new stuff I’m trying to become familiar with. Hope you have great holidays !
Lately this radio station’s signal has been getting out more, mostly because radio pirates on 98.9FM around Boston aren’t interfering as much. In my car I’m listening well down Franklin Street into Stoneham, down the Lynn Fells Parkway into Saugus, and up and down Main St all the way from Greenwood in Wakefield to Pine Banks in Melrose. The signal’s weak on those fringes, but near my place in the Highlands, it’s stronger. I just play music, only occasionally dropping in a message about this website. Always wondering if *someone* must have stumbled across the signal and wondered “WTF is this?”.
I recently tweaked the processing and really enjoyed listening all Thanksgiving weekend. On Thanksgiving day it was a music mix to play in the background for extended and divergent family. The mix was based on Neil Diamond, Pearl Jam, Kate Bush, and the Neighborhood. Somehow, it worked.
Welcome to my Tiny Radio Station. It’s at 98.9 FM.
It covers about a square mile of the Earth’s surface, emanating from the Highlands of Melrose, MA.
Did you pick it up? Leave a comment!
A lot of times I’m relaying WZBC at 90.3 fm. Signal’s not great here in Melrose, and I listen to WZBC a lot. So I listen off my relay. You, of course, are welcome to as well.
You might also hear a replay of Jim Neil’s Jukebox. An excellent free form mix that airs on a commercial radio station WRSI in Northampton, MA.
When WZBC, WRSI, or any other outside media is on, the “What’s On Now” playlist doesn’t update.
Reverted back to iTunes10. Too bad I really like the dynamic playlist with the “genius recommendations” incorporated. But the missing features (the bad) turned out to outweigh the new features (the good).
Hopefully Apple will add those missing features back in. Until they do, I have to consider Apple the new Microsoft.
Upgraded to iTunes 11. “Now Playing”, the plug in that uploads what’s playing, doesn’t work when I run off Mac OS 10.8. Still works on the old system, OS10.6.8
I figured it out. Live playlist updating is restored.
Like about iTunes 11: “Play next”. Lke a live assist DJ, playlist is now dynamic. Previously “iTunes DJ” was the only way to add a song while another was playing.
Hate about iTunes 11: Can’t have multiple windows open. No longer converts and imports. Album art can only be dragged to or from song that’s playing. Buggy, deleted songs with warning “do you want to move selected file to trash”, only to see they were still there afterwards. Other missing features don’t bother me.
Wishing i had stayed w/ iTunes 10. Hoping Apple brings back ability to drag album art to any song selected, not just song currently playing, lot of outrage over this exclusion.
